In response to "LYC: Work related story of the day...I just saw a client with a 4 x 4 postcard for marketing that had four spelling errors and five grammar errors...." by Walt_Disney

My nieces class a couple years ago (3rd grade I think) colored maps of the world which had *Africa* spelled without benefit of an "r".

When I pointed this out, I was told by both the teacher and school principal that it was unimportant because lesson only included being able to identify where places were, not how to spell them.

When I pointed out that they might be able to make a more convincing argument for that if it was a lesson for children who could not read. But that once the children could read, they were obliged to make sure that what they were reading IN THEIR LESSONS was correct.

They both looked at me as if I was just an unreasonable bitch.

When our education system operates on this level, it is no surprise that our business system is following suit.
