I will never judge a family's decision about what can help them with a loss; but that's a toughie for me, even with my yt consumption.

I don't follow anyone who shows their family/kids as their primary content, because it makes me super uncomfortable for various reasons; but if these folks and their followers had a sense of community and inclusion that included the kids, I guess I get it.

I've followed some yters for many years, including watching daily vlogs for some (my favorite person who makes them does them every other month, others less often - for Mop, I don't include casey in this, as his are pretty limited in scope/content); and, esp. with interactions in comments and other social media, it feels more like friendship than, say, watching someone in a tv show.
