RP1 was a love letter to 80s nostalgia.
Armada takes the tack that if you liked a measured helping of pop culture references in RP1 then you'll love ALL THE pop culture references.
It's like a child of the 80's vomited up every possible geek reference he could remember and was able to shoehorn in. It's also a really crappy bit of world building and male power fantasy.
