LYC: Boy, things sure have a way of developing rapidly at this movie theater job o' mine

I could be a bartender soon! What the whaaat?

See, we have a cafe, which has a full bar. Turns out they need people. Not surprising, since you have to be 21 to work there (I actually did not know this until recently) and sooo many of my coworkers are under that.

There's a couple reasons why this is good news. #1, I would start earning tips. And since we charge an arm and a leg for the stuff we sell... But also, well gosh darn me, I like being in front of guests. I feel that they're my people. We are pretty much the most expensive movie theater, but we do certain things to justify the cost. Not the least of which are the best picture and sound quality, an environment that the filmmakers would have intended, and some quirky programming. I mean, imagine a bar, located inside a movie theater, where people shoot the shit all the time about Steven Spielberg, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock...

Guys, I never *never* thought I would be a tipped employee. It's just so foreign to me, having worked desk jobs most of my adult life. Oh well, this will be another experience for ol' carne. Oh, I probably wouldn't start out as bartender. I would pay my dues for a while as busser, clearing tables and delivering orders.... Still as many tips though!

Oh, and I don't want to lose any lead shifts, since that is an experience which I feel actually adds to my resume (whereas cafe shifts, not so much). I know we have a lot of people who work pretty much cafe and lead shifts all the time. I want to be one of those people. It definitely beats working concessions, which unfortunately for me I am fantastic at. Concessions fucking blows!

I keep getting accolades from my managers about my quality of work. Seriously, it has gotten to embarrassing levels (which is why I've gotten the "supervisor" shifts I want lately). Hopefully I can use that juice to get more of the shifts I want. That looking for a real job thing that I was gonna do? I think that's gonna wait for a bit. I'm excited.
