no, at least not that I have ever heard. 8 is actually a positive thing by itself - chanukah, etc.

I think 88 is only a thing because of white supremacists using it.
I didn't know it wasn't a wider-known thing until this thread, with posts from folks who usually are up on things. it's been around for a long time - tattoos, some pop culture references, etc.
