I think it's more likely there will be a twist involving Luke in the film.

He's not in the poster, we hear his voice in the first trailer (with some interesting changes to old dialogue), and we see his mechanical hand on R2.
I think he's pretty important to whatever is going on, and will figure prominently towards the end of the movie.
