While not overtly discussed, this movie movies from action/adventure/comedy to apocalyptic disaster film in the blink of an eye.

It hearkens back to an article I read about how movies used to be about heroes preventing a disaster (Bond preventing a nuclear explosion, for instance) to heroes avenging a disaster. It's become so commonplace that it's treated lightheartedly now.
