And so do those that vote Republican. They vote based on social issues the exact same way that wealthy liberals do.

I'm trying to help people here. The assumption that they should only vote in their own economic self-interest flies in the face of what people do. It's not because they're stupid because Democrats do it too. And the argument that wealthy liberals do it because they've studied the issues while poor conservative voters haven't and are just dumb is a real problem for the Democratic party.

There's always been a "look down your nose" issue with liberals but it's gotten really, really bad and until that's fixed you're not winning any hearts and minds.
