I hate PR for Canada. We have so few binding institutions cross-country. The large brokerage-style parties are one of the few.

PR just gives incentives to every niche group to run, primarily focusing on region - as the Bloc showed, you can get better bang for your buck focusing on a smaller areas with concentrated groups of seats.And under a PR system, there is low incentive to compromise.
As much as people didn't like Harper by the end, nobody can argue that he didn't make compromises along the way. You'd still have a political party fighting same-sex marriage under a PR system. Now, it is as settled an issue as you can have because Harper compromised on the issue.
