In response to "I read Dignan's critique of this season of WD. I don't disagree with some of it, I understanding some frustration over some other things (spoilers)" by Mel Profit

spoils

1. Morgan is with the group when the horn goes off. He is also the one who turns it off. The horn blows for 1:38 in real time. I'll allow a few minutes of padding, but that still puts the main group less than 10 minutes from home.

2. Sure, he was given a mission. But the mission changes when Rick is attacked. Darryl has to choose between certain danger and potential danger, and he goes with the potential. If it was a couple of Alexandrians in the car, maybe, but it was freaking Abraham. He'll be fine.

3. I hear good things. But in the context of *that* episode, those people were barely recognizable as human.

4. I guess? I mean, it's the only remotely plausible explanation. They're still bringing knives to what they know will be a gun fight. They at the very least know there is a tower sniper.

5. In a different scenario, perhaps. If they were forced to leave Alexandria and live in the wild, this would make sense. Most of them would die. But a 10 minute (at the *very* most) jog back to town in what should be a virtually empty forest? With Michonne and Glenn? Michonne alone would easily kill any roamers, which has been demonstrated dozens of times. They literally had to have someone trip and hurt their ankle and then have someone get shot in the leg(!) to create tension.

7. Just watched that scene again. There are walkers on the other side of the dumpster fence, but not the side fence. There is bush on that side, and the fence is the same height (lower than their heads). This is a minor quibble. The writers want you to think they're surrounded, I just wish the location managers got that memo.

What it boils down to is this: *Show* me they're in danger, don't just tell me. I never once felt there was any genuine concern for Abraham, the forest group or the store group. It was all painfully forced.
