I saw it twice in the theater - mostly for the CGI.

I didn't hate the story, it was a simple effective story. I've seen it done much worse. It was manipulative but I didn't mind. And it served the effects. They really went out of their way to craft a story that could serve the visuals. It's one of the few times where that worked.
