in non-movie news, LYC, but my 'academic situation' is turning into a comedy of errors . . .

I won't go into all of the backstory details here (unless someone asks for clarification or something), because I've documented a fair amount of what's going on personally in recent months here on ST.

But the long and short of it is . . .

I finally got tested for a learning disability recently. (back in September) Almost 2 weeks later, as they were finishing up tabulating everything, they called me back and asked if i could come in for "1 more test" "to help clarify a few things on my testing for them". it ended up being a 350+ question test that I think was a personality test of some kind.

anyway, about a week after that, they emailed me, asking when I could come in to go over the test results. a few days later, i was there.

the long and short of the testing shows that I do have dyslexia, as I have for a very long time suspected (going back to Jr. High), and that it specifically falls under an issue of reading comprehension.

so, i called to find out what I needed to do next. Had to email someone in the psych department to get something from them in this whole process. Finally got this new paperwork a couple of days ago. THen talked to someone in student services today. I have to get the paperwork to them for evaluation and to work with me on something.

The problem? the guy i need to get it to and go over things with is out of the office until Monday. Good thing is that I can scan and email it all to him this week without having to make a special trip to the school (for those of you keeping score, i have been commuting, and it's 1 hour either way for me).

SO, now I get to wait until sometime next week, when he'll have had a chance to go over things. at that point, then i'll probably have to go by the school to talk w/ him in person to go over things. Best case scenario is then getting something same-day to my department for review. but, by then, we're talking almost the week of Thanksgiving. ANd wouldn't you know it? i'm picking up extra hours at work over the next couple of weeks, so it's going to be a pain in the ass until at least the 1st week of December to work out a time to go up there (unless I call out 1 day at work or something, which i may have to do).

And best case situation is that we'll have something lined up by the 1st of December.

The problem? the semester ends 2nd week of December, and i have no idea what i'll end up being asked to do to fulfill my requirements for the M.A. degree, and that means that I might not be able to do this before the end of the semester. It's starting to look like this may carry over until next semester, and that means that I won't "officially" finish my degree program and 'graduate' until next May. Potentially, anyway ...

i just love games of hurry up and wait . . .
