in general, for buffets like that, you're also paying a premium to be able to have choices.

that said, the most wasted money I've felt when eating out was when I was a vegetarian (who didn't really drink) and went to places like high-price las vegas buffets because they had limited options for me - not much more than a mixed entree at a regular restaurant with maybe an extra side of fruit or something. I'd go because friends were going, but I really was paying for their company and not the food.
