Coulson and Rosalind have a fairly long opening sequence with 5% ribbing and 95% loving respect and talking about a plan to infiltrate Hydra, eating burgers by candlelight, and then *fft* a bullet comes through the window and through her neck and she bleeds out. Ward had used a sniper rifle from a very long distance. And he calls Coulson to taunt him about her death.
