ask why there was a delay. many companies give windows instead of specific times for just this reason.
maybe the dude was delayed at a supplier or there was a bad accident, or maybe there was a suckier personal reason.
he totally should have been better about communicating and earlier, though.
(note: I feel that one of the worst day-to-day things anyone can do to me is not value my time, including by unexplainedly being late or cancelling a confirmed appointment on short notice without there being sickness or emergency.)
