the algae soup that's their special sauce probably does that alone; but I did wonder if they thought that the longer the ingredients list, the better.

cholesterol acts as a water-binder and stabilizer, and I read a study from korea a while back that said a specific kind of it may also help protect against uv rays. (other kinds can actually make damage worse.)
I see it more in hair products, for, like, african-american hair, than skincare.
