In response to "Ender if you can't see that "skin color" is very much a "qualification" for quite a lot in the US, not all of it good, then the conversation is pointl" by TWuGbacca

In the computer industry, we have one development methodology called Agile ... inside that, there's a useful concept for combatting institutional -- (edited)

that could be applied to combatting institutional racism.

Owing to a lack of data for providing estimates, teams of developers will be given a specific timeframe to "spike" a project - basically go all out on greenfield type stuff related to the larger project, so they can establish how long certain things will take.

Affirmative action is a spike on combatting institutional racism. Sure, to people who want everything to be fair, it seems unfair - but the fact is, it should be *even more unfair* in order to normalize racial or gender equality. It needs to push the boundary in order for everyone involved to realize what balance is needed.

Because white privilege is a thing. Male privilege is a thing. And some people who protest affirmative action do so because they fear being treated the way their culture has been treating other people for hundreds of years.

Edited it to say "And some people..."
