Owing to a lack of data for providing estimates, teams of developers will be given a specific timeframe to "spike" a project - basically go all out on greenfield type stuff related to the larger project, so they can establish how long certain things will take.
Affirmative action is a spike on combatting institutional racism. Sure, to people who want everything to be fair, it seems unfair - but the fact is, it should be *even more unfair* in order to normalize racial or gender equality. It needs to push the boundary in order for everyone involved to realize what balance is needed.
Because white privilege is a thing. Male privilege is a thing. And some people who protest affirmative action do so because they fear being treated the way their culture has been treating other people for hundreds of years.
