We (my brother, my mother, me) have noticed my father over the past many months getting a bit forgetful. Not all the time, not a lot, but he forgets things, and we notice. Today he looked at my mom and said that he noticed he is forgetting some things lately. He doesn't think it's Alzheimer's (not sure why he thinks that, maybe wishful thinking, maybe another reason) but mom suggested he see the doctor just in case b/c there are some meds nowadays.
Dad is 72. His mom lived to 85 and was, for most/all of the years I remember (she dies when I was 18) rather forgetful/dementia-like, but functional (until the last few years)
I guess it's good that he realizes?

Sorry to hear it, but t's good that he notices, and isn't necessarily the worst case scenario! Good thoughts to all of you. -- nm

Hopefully he's just been distracted or it's something easily treated. -- nm

my (limited) experience with it (one of my aunts came to live with us after she began to show symptoms) was more than "forgetting"

Alzheimers is exponentially worse than senility which is worse than just old and getting short term memory loss
