He suffers in the long term by writing himself into a corner, but these films have been plotted out to a significant extent so there's little risk of that.
Could it suck? Sure. But there's little to indicate it will. JJ's worst one-and-done was Super 8, which sits at 82% at Rotten Tomatoes.
