starting from the assumption that they are the kings of the hill.
Responses:
In looking at the types of films that have held the box office records of late: Avengers, Jurassic Park, etc, I think SW fans *are* kings of the hill.

Beats me. But that was a long while ago, culture-wise. Maybe dinosaur geeks and SW geeks had less overlap?
