That's kind of a weird line right after they suggest $50mil in preview business on Thursday. Or are they saying the $130-150m is literally the 3-day

$50M Thursday + $130-$150M Fri-Sat-Sun is how I read it the second time. The Harry Potter finale made $43.5M midnights, then $125.7M over Fri-Sat-Sun -- nm

Harry Potter 8 had the largest day ever at $91 million then dropped to $42M then $35M.

Starting at midnight was the norm, back before The Dark Knight Rises. Shows for Potter started at 12:01 am on Friday. -- (link)

So they're suggesting that this will throw under Potter, even with the bigger pre-sales? That seems as crazy as the $300mil predictions. -- nm

No, they're saying it earns Between $180 and $200 million, which bests the current December record by $100 million.

but, they also say it's doubled the presales of Avengers 2. The article is not terribly consistent. -- nm

It can do both, especially if a lot of the presales occur during the first 24 hours.

If this thing is as good as some of the folks last night suggest - Saturday will be a lot of repeat business...cause if it kicks ass, I'll be back on

Some people certainly will. Many, many more will discover that they're too busy on the Saturday before Christmas.
