i haven't even seen the movie. i have no feelings about it one way or another. it's just my gut reading of the initial reactions

having a set narrative for any award season is usually, based on my observation of past awards, an opportunity for a latecomer to come in and shake things up at the finish line if only because it's new and shiny and especially if it also makes a shit ton of money, Hollywood at the end of the day likes to use the Oscars to reward box office success as much as artistic merit
