I discovered that one or more of them were living in the back of my refrigerator, amassing a half-inch of feces in the evaporation tray, which has cyclically gotten wet and then had a fan blow over it since for who knows how long. I've been sick pretty much the whole year we've lived there and, while I don't think the mice are all of it, they have earned my wrath.
