i think you're reading the number "4" wrong. moviegoers in theaters are likely far more committed to seeing movies in theaters

whereas non-theater moviegoers -- families and/or people with killer home theaters -- are probably equally committed at this point to avoiding the multiplex at all costs

bad movies = bad box office. but my habit is to see pretty much everything first-run in a theater that i am interested in seeing
