Luke is family even if he isn't her dad.
And I have trouble seeing Luke leave Rey alone without training unless that comes AFTER Ren goes apeshit. And if Ren killed all Luke's trainees, then where was Rey to avoid that.
Plus, Rey/Ren? Too close not to imply relation. I think for Ren's redemption (and these stories are about redemption) to have the full meaning you don't send a cousin to do a sister's job.
