other long time secretaries, by virtue of regular annual raises had wound up with salaries that were way above market (she was in 6 figures). So the point at which we had to tell her, you would have thought that we were planning the invasion of Normandy with trying to prepare for that conversation. She actually took it very well, but we were terrified.
