you knew Ren wasn't going to go the way of Darth Maul. He was going to be in the movies but that bit is so well written that I thought, perhaps he is at least temporarily redeemed. That he wouldn't kill Han even thought it was likely. The line Kylo says about not knowing if he had the courage...I took it as a straightforward question as to whether or not he could kill his father. I'll have to pay more attention to that scene next time.

The final scene with the appearance of Luke was, I agree, well done and as I've mentioned, very satisfying. It's better than even Gandalf the White.
