Star Wars: The Force Awakens was just great (spoilers)

It was too long. It had about 2 acts too many. But I'll forgive a lot. The aliens were sufficiently alien. I didn't like that some of the humans didn't speak "English", but that's neither here nor there. There was humor. There was action. There was was sadness and tragedy. I loved the lightsaber effects (like when Ray forces Kylo's lightsaber into the snow and earth). I loved that the stormtroopers weren't as bad shots as they'd been in the past. I loved that there weren't any Lucas-isms (monsters didn't fart or burp, aliens weren't stereotypically "foreign"). I loved that there were more familiar faces than I'd expected.

And that final scene was exactly what I wanted. J.J. Abrams made this movie for me.
