The defense is told they can't introduce a third party liability defense after a pre-trial hearing. Why would they not be allowed to claim that someone else might have committed the murder? That seems to be what I'm getting. They defense wants to say that someone with motive or opportunity could have been accessing her voice mail but they can't say that because the court says that's not allowed.
Why would the court not allow them to argue that it could be someone other than the defendant?
