The effect hasn't existed for a long time due to saturation. I wonder what % of Star Wars showings sold out.

Its probably not a very high %. In the olden days the huge openers would sell out a pretty high % of their shows. I had anecdotally witnessed people walking up to the box office not finding showings available and going to something else. I want to say I saw it with Independence Day.
