Starting with, she's an orphan of uncertain origins, living on a desert planet, wearing the girl version of Luke's white kimono. And she's a hot shot pilot, the Skywalker signature. And let's be honest, they're not going to hand over the Falcon to a random girl.

The lightsaber calls to her. That's huge. She's not just a Jedi. That was passed from father to son.

She's very force sensitive, of course.

Leia treats her like family.

Finally, she gets sent to find, Luke, alone, in a massively climactic scene.
