a dispatch from the field from General Luck
|
And now....another exciting chapter from the Adventures of Andrew Luck, Civil War General.....
Dearest Gertrude-
Greetings from the doctor's tent, my love. I just received a post from the field and it appears our campaign has suffered a tragic defeat by the insurgents from Texas. The season appears to have broken like a wagon axle rolling under your Aunt Mildred's buggy. Whilst I am no longer peeing blood, perhaps it is best to ask for reassignment and begin anew with next year's campaign. As I continue to convalesce, could I trouble you to send more salt pork and some more "anesthesia" (aka bourbon) please??
I shall continue to hone my whittling skills and look forward to receiving your next dispatch. Know that I yearn to return to the farm and the simple life we once shared....let's face it, anything is better than playing behind this O-line...
I remain ever yours-
Gen. Andrew Luck, Esq.
