while he had his issues (deficits would be my biggest gripe with him), I'd still rate him quite highly as a PM. higher than the elder Trudeau at least. he did a better job of governing the entire country than his predecessor or successor (Trudeau and Chretien both basically ignored everything west of Thunder Bay), but underestimated the power of regionalism.
