it is different when you know you have 3 movies to make, or if you would like to make 3, but have to get buy in on 1 first.

Lucas could not bank on the first one being a hit enough to get a sequel greenlit, so he had to make a complete movie first. When you get a 3 film deal, you make a different movie, it is just the way it is.
