i like that Han got to liking Chewie's bowcaster. if only it kicked ass like that in the earlier movies.
Han's death was probably necessary. and predictable. foreshadowing especially when he told Rey that Chewie liked her. obvious set up for Solo's departure and her taking over the Falcon. that likely means Chewie will be back in the next film, unless they abruptly transition to Finn being her number 2 on the Falcon.
i liked that Han addressed Kylo as "Ben" ... a nice nod to the books, etc. and the naming of one of their children.
Captain Phasma ... has to be in SW 8 ... otherwise, WTF was the point with her?
i was under the impression that Kylo was being built up to be a total bad ass in the making. he wasn't. Rey practically owned him, and she just got the lightsaber and all. but i guess that goes back to teh lightsaber.... he supposedly was being trained by Luke (inferred in dialogue han leia etc.) but turned to the dark side. or started the turn. and i guess that explains his "less than perfect" lightsaber blade.
and R2 waking up. if Leia could feel Han's death from such a distance, even with her minimal (at best) Jedi training and Force sensitivity, then who's to say that Luke couldn't reach out when the time was right and Wake up R2 himself?
anyway, there's probably more to it ... i'll comment more later if i feel like it.
overall, liked the movie. a huge improvement over Episodes 1-3. and an obvious set up for 8 and probably 9 leaving us hanging like it did.
oh! ok, 1 last thing, i promise. i was completely expecting Luke to say something to her about "the force is strong in my family" like is in the trailers.
I guess this was cut and / or held back for Ep. 8?
