he apparently would start the class and would get a list of previous injuries of the students. He got one card and said, Sgt (name), what does this mean? Shrapnel lodged between the lobes of the brain?
Appaerntly Sgt (name) was in several of the Mogadishu ops, he is in all of the black hawk down books. In the books, the story focuses on a bullet hitting the door and the sgt thanking God. There's more to the story.
Our sgt went for medical treatment where the corpsmen were being treated for missing limbs, other horrible injuries. Our Sgt was feeling not so bad, had a few nicks and cuts, including a ding in his forehead. After a few hours of triage, a corpsman examined him and was like, dude. DO you know aht that is? Sarge said yeah just a ding. Corpsman said, that's an entry wound. They did an scan. It wasn't in the forehead. It was a chunk of shrapnel at the level of his temples. they tried to operate and couldn't get to it.
a couple of years later, our guy was tired of limited duty and wanted to prove he could return to normal duty. He went to Troy's class. Troy called him out about his medical history, and the guy said, well, I'm here to test it out. Slam my head down and see if the shrapnel moves. Troy said he was like, well, ok! He said, hit me, then controlled the guy's head and slammed it to the floor. THen he was like, are you still alive? yes? Ok, you're cleared! and our sergeant went back to normal duty, shrapnel and all.
