I remember seeing that when the filmmaker shows us his interview but don't remember it being shown in court. I don't think they show us that in the film and I would guess the prosecution didn't show it in court. Not sure if the defense did either.
That we only see bits and pieces of the court trial leaves us wondering if certain details were brought up or discussed in court. I'm sure there's evidence we're not seeing either. I've been reading more about the case each day but I'm not getting more answers just more questions.
