I'm trying to imagine what.

My 401K plan, which is my retirement plan (since they froze pensions very very early in my career) has been basically the same, at least outwardly to me, for a good ten years or so now.

The *only* thing that changed that I can recall occurred two years ago this month when they announced that the employee match would no longer occur with each paycheck but instead would occur in one lump sum at the end of year. That's the way it operated for 2014 and 2015 (and how it will work going forward).

Could that have anything to do with it?

Could this impact the tax deferred status of it?
