It's 'similar' in the context that Lofton's his 2nd comp, but it's not that similar based on this measure.

Raines got on base 4,000 times with 2600 hits and 1300 walks. Lofton got on base about 3400 times with 2400 hits and 900 walks.

That's an entire extra season of your lead-off hitter getting on base.

Lofton's OPS+ is 107, Raines was 123. That's 16% better for Raines.

Lofton was the better fielder, but was he that much better? I don't think so.
