It was said long ago that 80% of the news the DC reporter sent back was juicy gossip for the publisher and friends could be in the know, not published

this of course means inside info for stock trading I presume. but now local papers are owned by mega corps and most all news is wire service cut and paste.
but without a local reporter in DC all they have is the congressional record and press releases by the party and rep's office. so news is controlled by lobbiests, fox news and the party PR dept.
