People selling guns illegally should face serious jail time, no doubt. Right now, it may or may not be illegal. The holes in the legislation that

Obama is trying to close have made pursuing these sellers nearly impossible. That's really the point. A person who isn't primarily selling guns as his business isn't required to be licensed or submit background check requests. The existing gun laws are full of holes. The main discussion has simply been about closing the holes and making the application of existing laws more uniform. That will allow illegal sellers to be caught. Agreed, penalties should be stiff, but I don't view any of that as imposing greater burdens on lawful owners.
