mostly, it is nice here compared to many other places. not a lot of extremes for prolonged periods, etc.
really, though, while Sunnyvale itself isn't bad and the whole Bay Area should be considered your back yard (oh, also, the ocean is just a shortish drive away, which matters a lot to me), I think you and your wife would like Portland a lot.
