Ha! Sure, it carries much fewer riders but it's still the same idea. They shared one tunnel going back and forth.

The one difference might be the time between trains which is much longer on the G than the L.
Mock the G but it's the only train that goes directly from Brooklyn to Queens. It connects to the 7, L, and F. It should go further into Queens which would make it even more useful. It's also getting rather crowded these days so they may need to add on the cars they took away many years ago.
