I do that to muff some of the cackling in the office. I sometimes leave my phone headset on at other times...

it's great to discourage random fly-byes as they think I'm on a call.
As for the cackling, the Hen-in-Chief left last week and it's been a noticeable drop in clucking. I'm losing another this week as she goes out on Maternity leave. I clocked her last week at Non Stop Chatter for over two hours. Some work related and alot of it, not. She's sweet but she's a Yapper.
