In response to "so, how does it change then? -- nm" by groiny

By white folk recognizing there's an issue and most of it could be corrected if they realized that.

The studio system has a way of pigeonholing minority writers/directors as writers/directors of films that will only appeal to minorities. "We can't hire a black writer/director or our film will only draw black folk."

So minorities are rarely ever given the opportunity to write or direct a film that isn't aimed at a minority audience.

And producers often come out of the pool of successful writers/directors.

So if minorities are never given the opportunity to succeed at writing and directing big budget movies, they'll never get to the point where they can produce those films.
