so - for my November trip - my brother is donating miles to upgrade our tickets to business class
Delta is the airline
our travel agent that handles things is saying that the ticket to be upgraded has to be a "qualifying fare" and the cost for that is higher than just a regular coach fare ticket ($5,400 vs $2,400) what?
I have never used miles - have no clue how it all works really. But it kinda sounds like my ticket will cost me 3000 dollars more - plus whatever miles my brother kicks in - to have us in business class on the trip.
for a long flight like that - totally worth it right?

is the flight on Delta or a code share?

Yes, delta just changed their rules and you basically can only upgrade one class.

wait, where are you flying? $5400 for coach, anywhere, is INSANE. -- nm

Oh, for such a long haul, I'd say it's definitely worth it. But I'd consult the experts on the whole "qualifying fare" thing. -- nm
