So you can't buy the cheapest ticket and auto upgrade anymore.

It sucks but with full planes they don't care.

I've done 17 in coach and it was fine. Didn't sleep at all but I can't sleep on planes. I don't know it would be worth that much to me but it's once in a lifetime trip so....
