think it should have to work for either gender, because i don't think it needs to work for any person.

like, if she collected, say, old medical texts, and he found her one, then great. but that doesn't mean it's a good gift for anyone else.

if she really likes flowers, and he bought her flowers, then, hey, nice gift.
