For me, when I debate here, it's not because I think I'll change someone's mind, but maybe I can get them to ask themselves a few questions, or help

Also it's a public forum, so even if I might not have much hope of influencing the person I'm talking with directly, maybe I'll influence the people who are reading the discussion.
