The social worker that's been helping my mother and step-father just e-mailed me, saying the county is putting her in the nursing home today.

This, after three messages to the county case worker yesterday, the first one saying my immediate goal was to keep her in her home.
The case worker left me a message last evening while I was out, saying she'd been with my mother yesterday, going to the doctor, getting meds. No mention of the nursing home. She's supposed to call me today (hopefully soon, after she gets in the office).
The social worker is getting me the name of an advocate and is hoping my mother can go back home now that they've found me. I may have to go to court to have the county removed as guardian. I have no idea what's happening with my father's estate. I would assume he left everything to my mother. I'm concerned, now that the county has guardianship, that they might start the process of liquidating assets, like selling the house.
Fortunately, I'm off today. I'm going to be optimistic that there's still an easy way to reverse what's happening, with the county's cooperation.
Wish me luck.
